May Love Note
OUR CHURCH IN ACTION GRAD NIGHT Our traditional Senior Grad Banquet is scheduled for Sunday May 15th. We will be honoring several high school graduates with dinner, special video presentation and gifts, as well as briefly hear from grad parents. Everyone is invited to attend but you must RSVP to the church office with your reservation. Family and friends of grads are welcome as well as members of our church family. This is a special time in the lives of our students and we hope you can join them.
PICTORIAL DIRECTORY After a long wait, the pictorial directories are here. Pick up yours at the church office. Watch for regular updates and corrections to come with your Sunday bulletins. If you know of changes, be sure and let us know. "Dear Diary" Wednesday May 11th, the dramatic presentation, "Dear Diary" will begin in the sanctuary at 7 p.m. performed by the students from Gardner Bible College in Alberta, Canada. A freewill offering will be taken to help with their transportation costs. This promises to be an interesting production with quality actors. Children will meet for their regular programs at 7 p.m. but adults and youth will meet in the santuary. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. as usual and child care will be provided beginning at 7 p.m. This performance deals with many teen issues including peer pressures, consequences, and other tough issues. See the posters in the hallway at church for a brief synopsis of the play. Mothers Day Luncheon Our ladies have been invited to join with the Assembly of God women for a Mother's Day Luncheon on Saturday, May 7 at 1 p.m.. The guest speaker will be Karla Dornacher, who is a gifted watercolor artist and author who has faced much adversity in her life. Cost is only $5 per ticket. COSTA RICA, HERE WE COME! We are forming a team of 18 people (adults and middle and high school students) for a missions work trip with Wayne and Kathi Sellers, our Living Link Missionaries, in Costa Rica. The trip will begin Friday March 24, 2006 and return hom eon Sunday April 2nd, 2006. If you would like to go, contact the church office. A $50 deposit will be needed from each person by July 1st. Other costs include: airfare, $200 per person to cover food, building materials and any transportation during the stay, and passports. Passport applications can be picked up at the post office in Pendleton) WALK FOR LIFE! Walk for life, sponsored by Pregnancy Care Services, will be Saturday, May 14, 9:30 a.m. at Main and Frazier. Donor pledge sheets can be picked up at the church. Free hotdogs, beverages, music, face painting, prizes and balloons will be available. Free T-Shirts with $150.00 in collected pledges. The walk is easy and flat. CAN YOU HELP? Have you helped teach a Sunday School class or a Wednesday night class? Thought of cooking or cleaning up after a mid-week meal? Or attending a Saturday workday? Can you sing? PEOPLE ARE NEEDED ON SUNDAY MORNINGS. If you haven't served before, you've missed out on being a part of our church family. Don't stand on the sidelines. Get involved by serving the Lord. PATTERNS OF THE PAST May 9th, at the Vert Clubroom, "Patterns of the Past" will be shown. Our own Charlotte Berry will be the special feature as several models will be showing off Charlotte's vintage clothing collection. Fashions from the 30's and 40's will be modeled. Guest speaker is Becky Weber of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; she is a counselor, freelance writer and author who has coped with depression and lonliness but now speaks about a "New Dimension of Living". The menu is modeled after a vintage tea party by "Simply Catering". Cost for the entire evening is only $7.75. This is a "bring a daughter" evening with an emphasis on young ladies attending. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY The Board of Trustees are looking for an infant nursery attendant for Wednesday evenings, 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. This is an hourly paid position. If you are interested, contact the church office for an employment application. If you have questions, see Tom Demianew. CAMP OUT Kevin Porter and Mary Campbell are busy planning a Memorial Day weekend church campout. The location is at Ukiah on private property. The date: Friday May 27 - Monday May 30 (or as long or short as you can stay. Maps are available. Potluck dinners on Saturday and Sunday evenings. The camp area is primitive, but a portable toilet will be available. If you need a tent or RV, let us know. We don't want anyone to stay home because they have nowhere to sleep. Pack up the kids, hot dogs, s'mores, the old geetar, harmonica, musical spoons, washboard, and anything else that will make music around the campfire at night. BENEFIT AUCTION FOR PARKER CAMPBELL Sunday May 22 at 3 p.m. at the Pendleton Convention Center. Tygh Campbell will be the auctioneer. Silent auction begins at 3 p.m. and closes at 5 p.m. Live auction begins at 4 p.m. Food and beverage will be available. If you would like to donate a theme "basket", new items or services, contact Becky Waggoner at 443-3034 or Teri Rosselle at 276-041. Auction items will include donations from: Wildhorse, Pendleton Round-Up, Happy Canyon, OSU, PHS, Bar M Ranch, Dean's Athletic, RDO Equipment, Cough's on Main, Quiznos, Jump Start Espresso, and many many MORE. Proceeds will go to help defray travel expenses to Minnesota as they seek medical care for Parker. JERUSALEM MARKETPLACE Vacation Bible School at First COG, June 27 through June 31, 2005. Volunteers needed! Crew leaders, Decorating, Crafts, Games, Snacks, Bible Stories, Video, Daily clean-up, Registration, Music, Substitutes, Final day clean-up, etc. CONTACT TERI BRICKEY today. She will be having a training meeting in the near future regarding each of the above areas. High School students will be eligible to fill the above positions also.
